Topic: Another Weekly Photo Joint...

A Photog I follow at greyscalegorilla.com has been doing "5 second projects" for motion graphics and has decided to open it up to photography as well.

This assignment is kinda cool. It's "Upside Down" I believe you have til NEXT Monday to submit it to this Flickr group...

Re: Another Weekly Photo Joint...

Here's what I entered into the "Upside Down" photo assignment.

As for my technique... I had a flash camera left for fill, shooting through a shoot-thru umbrella. I had his mom hold him up and let him pose while I fired off 5-10 shots quickly. Made sure I was shooting at a nice large aperture (2.8) to blur the background (prolly shoulda done something around f/4-5.6 for maximum sharpness) shutter speed at 1/200th my max sync speed and ISO 100. At this setting the background was very slightly underexposed, so by lighting him, he stands out a bit, without the flash being too bright. I tried for a very subtle look.

In post, I flipped the picture so he's right side up, and the world is upside down. I think it's a fun take on the concept.
