Topic: I think I found my Wide Angle...

After reading a bunch about different Wide Angle lenses, I think I'm going to go with this one:

Linky

Thoughts?  Keeping in mind I'd like to keep it under $800.  I'm going to Sedona in a couple months, and then up to Asheville.  Most of my photography is Nature/Landscape/Low Light.  I have my 50mm 1.8 for most everything else.

I haven't heard much about Tokina... Good luck.

Re: I think I found my Wide Angle...

Tokina is a respectable lens maker, they've been around since the 70s. Nikon shooters love those guys, apparently they were founded by a bunch of former Nikon engineers who wanted to concentrate on designing quality zooms. I have 2 Tokina lenses, however that's not what they say on the barrel - they've been partnered with Pentax for quite some time and have released a bunch of jointly developed lenses. Each company's R&D departments collaborated on the optical formula, though the lenses are all manufactured by Tokina. There are minor differences between the Pentax and Tokina branded lens versions but optically they are the same (the Pentax versions are weather-sealed, and have different barrel structures). Needless to say, I absolutely love both Tokina lenses (16-50 f/2.8 and 50-135 f/2.8) and I'd venture the 11-16 is quality too. I've even heard some whining on the Pentax forum about how there should be a Pentax-branded version of that one too, so people must like it.

Here's a list from Wikipedia of all the joint Pentax/Tokina lenses - AT-X Pro 12-24mm f/4.0, AT-X Pro 16-50mm f/2.8, AT-X Pro 50-135mm f/2.8, AT-X 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 fisheye, AT-X Pro 100mm /2.8 macro, and AT-X Pro 35mm f/2.8 macro - I've considered buying the 12-24 for wide stuff several times, it's well-regarded, though I may just go for this other 15mm f/4 prime that has zero distortion....
